Mrozinski Piano Studio

Greetings, Parents & Students!

The fall semester is upon us! I hope that you have had a wonderful summer. This newsletter contains all the information for the upcoming year of piano study. Take a few minutes to read through the scheduling process, studio calendar and studio policies. Information in this newsletter is also available on the website, www.mrozinskipianostudio.com. The website is a great place to visit throughout the year for reminders of events and dates. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns. I am looking forward to seeing each of you very soon and hearing about your summer adventures.

Fondly,

Vonnie Mrozinski

Scheduling and Time Requests

Lessons are available each weekday Monday through Friday. Please send three day and time requests. I will do my best to accommodate your first request. There could be multiple families that would like the same day and time, so patience and flexibility will help the scheduling process to move smoothly. Home-school students should request a morning or early afternoon time.

Studio Challenge 2016-2017

For the third year in a row there will be a “studio challenge.” Past years were the staff-note flashcard challenge and the Middle C challenge. This year will be the “30 Piece Challenge.” Inspired by pedagogue Elissa Milne and endorsed by pedagogue Wendy Stevens, students of all ages (!) will learn 30 pieces during the fall and spring sessions. “Students will gain a wide and practical knowledge and experience in a variety of music forms. Students will improve their sight-reading skills, learn a variety of styles and formats of music, play more musically because pieces will be learned well.” And “students will be happier…the more music they can play, the more confident and proficient they feel, leading to a generally happier student.”

At the first lesson, each student will receive a chart to keep track of pieces. Pieces need to be at least 16 measures (8 for beginning students). Pieces should be of three different levels: 1. Challenging. These would be pieces for the Sonata Festival, AIM, recital and musicales. 2. At student level. 3. Easier, fun to learn pieces.

What will students get out of it? A reward, of course! Students completing the 30 piece challenge will receive recognition and an award at the spring recital and musicale.

More advanced students are expected to practice at least one hour a day, six days a week.
